Notoriously crusty Simon Cowell personally called Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle to comfort her, vowing to support her unconditionally and offering to rip up her tour contract if it would ease her stress. “Simon told her she had done brilliantly and that she was a great singer who was going to record a great album when she was ready,” a friend tells the Mirror.

Sources close to Boyle are concerned about the concerts and TV appearances that come along with recording an album, MSNBC adds. And her family tells the Mirror they don’t want to see her embark upon the sold-out Britain’s Got Talent tour, which starts June 12. But if she can’t make that, hopefully she’s feeling well by July 4: President Obama has invited her to perform at the White House. (More Susan Boyle stories.)
