Idaho senator Larry Craig was just in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was arrested in a bathroom sex sting in June, his children told Good Morning America today. “He was a victim of circumstance,” said his son, who, with his sister, believes his father's actions in the bathroom were misinterpreted.

Craig claims he is innocent and heterosexual, despite his disorderly-conduct guilty plea.  His sexuality, however, is less important to his children than fidelity to their mother, which the two said they interrogated him about before appearing at the press conference at which he announced his resignation Saturday. They believe he was faithful. “It was tough standing next to him,” his son says, “but we are a family.” (More Larry Craig stories.)
