Hot Summer Trend: Big Butts

Not sure you can pull off that thong bikini? Think again: Big butts are this summer’s hottest trend, at least according to the New York Daily News. Stars from Kim Kardashian to Serena Williams have gotten much press of late for celebrating their curves, and a new book devoted entirely to more than 400 juicy booties—appropriately titled The Big Butt Book—recently hit stores.

Madonna’s 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes, has a fashion line hitting Macy’s next month—and she recently blogged that she loves “‘80s shorts… the kind that makes your butt look kinda big.” One trend analyst thinks today’s teens will no longer need to be ashamed of a larger backside: “As our population becomes more diverse, we're appreciating different body parts that are different than the puritanical American roots. In Brazil, it's been all about the butt.”
