A memoir by the woman raped by Roman Polanski as a teenager has a rather jarring cover image, reports the Hollywood Reporter. It's a photo of then 13-year-old Samantha Gailey taken by Polanski himself. The image came from a photo session with the director in 1977—he coaxed her into posing topless for some pictures—about three weeks before he drugged and raped the teen at Jack Nicholson's place. Polanski later pleaded guilty to unlawful sex before fleeing the US. He eventually reached a settlement with his victim, now Samantha Geimer, in a civil suit. The memoir, titled The Girl, is out in September.

"Since the incident, the media has always illustrated the story with a picture of Polanski," writes Andy Lewis of THR. "Geimer finally wanted to put her own face on the story, and this picture reflected the starting point for her." (More Roman Polanski stories.)
