Fate of the Furious sped its way to a $100.2 million opening weekend, enough for a No. 1 finish that was disappointing only when stacked up against Furious 7's $147.2 million opener, reports Forbes. The eighth installment scored big globally, notes Variety, with $532.5 million, easily topping the $250 million it reportedly took to make. Coming in at No. 2 was The Boss Baby with $15.5 million, while Beauty and the Beast took third with $13.6 million, reports the AP. In fourth, per Box Office Mojo, was Smurfs: The Lost Village, with $6.5 million, and Going in Style came in fifth with $6.35 million. (Read more box office stories.)
