Republicans in the House of Representatives on Monday announced they've come to the opposite conclusion in their investigation into possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia as the intelligence community. Per CNN, the House Intelligence Committee has concluded Russian President Vladimir Putin did not attempt to help President Trump win the election. The committee also announced they have finished conducting interviews in the investigation and plan to submit a report of their findings to their Democratic counterparts. Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, told reporters Monday the year-long investigation "found no evidence that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it colluded with the Russians."

Per the AP, the report specifically refutes the assessment made by the US intelligence community that Russian meddling in the campaign was intended to help Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton. While still a draft, the report is sure to fuel criticism from Democrats who say Republicans on the committee have seen too few witnesses to come to a solid conclusion. Conaway, however, said the report would agree with the intelligence community in its assessment there was Russian meddling during the election, just not specifically to aid Trump. Democrats, meanwhile, will likely draft their own report to address what they believe were the stones left unturned by their Republican colleagues. (Read more Russia stories.)
