Michelle Williams, in her first high-profile appearance since Heath Ledger’s death, seemed in high spirits at the Cannes Film Festival, People reports. She said it was "cool" to be there for the premiere of her film Wendy and Lucy and also to promote Synechdoche, in which she stars with Philip Seymour Hoffman.

"It actually does feel kind of special to have two films at the same time," Williams tells People. "It's something you can look back on at the end of your life and think, 'That was a cool thing I did when I was 27.' " She brought along 2-year-old Matilda, her daughter with Ledger.
