(Newser) – It came along well before YouTube even existed, but Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" has nonetheless just cracked a milestone on the site. The 1991 song has now been viewed 1 billion times, reports Loudwire. The grunge anthem wasn't uploaded to YouTube until June of 2009, notes Spin. "Thanks to you all!!!!" tweeted former member Krist Novoselic. For the record, "Gangnam Style" by South Korea's PSY was the first to crack 1 billion, back in 2012, and several other songs have since done so. The current No. 1 is "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi, with 6.5 billion views. (Read more Nirvana stories.)
