Hillary Clinton made her first Sunday show appearance as secretary of state today, vowing “there would be retaliation” against Iran if it attacked Israel, and that Washington might return North Korea to its state terror list. Clinton, speaking on This Week a year to the day after she ceded the Democratic primary to her current boss, said she's “honored” to serve former rival Barack Obama, who she now says is “absolutely” able to handle a 3am call.

Obama's European trip and Sonia Sotomayor dominated the talk elsewhere on the Sunday talkers:

  • On State of the Union, David Axelrod disputed the notion that Barack Obama’s trip to Europe has been an “apology tour,” called talk of another stimulus package premature, and said a GOP filibuster of Sotomayor would amount to “political retribution.”
  • Newt Gingrich continued to "reframe" his reproach of Sotomayor on Face the Nation, but chided the White House for continually flip-flopping on its response to her “wise Latina” remarks.
  • On Fox News Sunday, Sen. Richard Shelby said Obama’s health care plan would be the "first step in destroying the best health care system the world has ever known."
